Bahnhofsviertel: Room for growth

The Gutleutviertel in Frankfurt 1 has greatly changed in recent years. Since the development of Frankfurt’s Westhafen into an attractive residential and commercial area, the former workers’ quarter is characterized by a colourful ambience with diverse shopping facilities and new restaurants.

The neighbouring Bahnhofsviertel has also improved its image in recent years. Newly developed hotels and renowned companies embody the current spirit of optimism. Baseler Strasse 46-48 is one of the latest development sites in the Bahnhofsviertel between the Messe Frankfurt, the main railway station and the city centre.

This is where KREISLER, the new headquarters of Nestlé Deutschland AG, is being built. The 12-storey, layered new building is 45 metres high and has around 24,000 m² of rental space, some 2,200 m² of green roof terraces and outdoor areas, including shaded workplaces.

With its flowing, organic form and light-coloured façade, the building will significantly enhance the area between the main railway station and Baseler Platz. The rounded shape of the Kreisler underlines the urban planning idea of Baseler Platz as the southern entrance to the city, and as a link between the Bahnhofsviertel and the new development along the banks of the Main. The shape, colour and material of the façade are intended to emphasize the dynamic essence of the building, which lies in the current of time and traffic. The name and design of the KREISLER are based on the former traffic roundabout between Frankfurt’s main railway station and the Friedensbrücke bridge, which was an important junction in the city.
